Storyteller - Carl Gough

 Storytelling Gallery:

Here is a look at some of the storytelling work I've done :

Seasonal Tales

From Winter to Spring, from Summer to Autumn, Easter, Solstice, Halloween or Christmas.... there is always a tale to capture the essence of the season.

I adore telling seasonal tales as they often only get to be told for a short period each year. Some are my own work such as the Christmas story Calennig, others are adaptations of traditional tales. Either way, this is a great way  to invoke the feeling of a particular time of year,

Swansea Storytelling Club

On the last Friday of every month I host Swansea Storytelling at Tapestri Bar and Bistro, Swansea.
Its a fun, friendly and relaxed evening with a mixture of tellers. Everyone is welcome and some floor spots are available each month for anyone who'd like to have a go. More details on the Swansea Story website

Ticketed Performances

I develop and deliver full performance pieces and so if you're looking for a ready made event then feel free to ask me more.

Why not join my e-mail group to ensure you get first notice of future performances.

Schools

I have delivered storytelling for many schools and home education groups. You can choose from a variety of packages, all of which can be found on the schools page of my Connection website.

Storytelling at Margam Park

 Margam Country Park

I have delivered several storytelling sessions at this wonderful venue. I've told tales of the Mabinogion, Welsh Folklore and a collection of stories from 'How the Whale became.

I'm usually booked for a full day here and deliver 5 sessions during the day to casual drop in audiences.

Ghost Stories

Always entertaining and a great favorite all year round, but especially at Halloween.

My stories are made to thrill rather than chill but definitely carry a spooky vibe. These can be especially great outdoors around a camp fire. I even have some very personal tales to tell in this category, which always creates an additional frisson.

I can cater to audiences young or old or even mixed. Tales are always selected to suit the situation.

Myth and Magic

Folklore and Legends feature strongly in my repertoire especially tales from Wales and the Mabinogi.

I also love folktales that give a sense of place, for example stories that give a back story to features in the landscape.

Fables

These stories are great for all ages as they work on many different levels. Fantastic for family events but also for exploring PSE in schools.

 Brecon Beacons National Park

An example of the commission service where I developed a unique tour of Craig-y-nos Country Park. Delivered in costume as Constantine Hibbert, the head gardener of Madam Adeline Patti in a first person narrative.

Based on the book 'Flowers for M'Lady' and in association with Changing Seasons Tea Room.

Community Fun days

This photo was taken at the official opening of Godre'r Graig Park. At this event I was booked by Godre'r Graig Community Association (GCA) to provide entertainment during the event.

I have helped GCA a few times now to aid their fundraising efforts and I'm happy to advise other groups too.

Campsites

As part of a summer promotion I visited campsites to deliver an hour of storytelling for the people staying on the site.

This proved to be very well received by tourists and was a wonderful way of providing something extra for guests, to make their stay all the more special. Through telling local myth and folklore, visitors gained a new appreciation for where they were staying.

Are you looking for something specific?

I can accommodate a wide range of requests, including specific tales you may want told, so why not contact me and let me know what you need and I'll let you know what I can offer.
